We've moved. Another rehab of an old city house complete and the family is in. For the kitchen remodel I wanted the island to be something reclaimed, something that could take a beating from two kids under 3, and something with a little character.

Reese, of Forest Fire Collective, took the project on and did a fantastic job. The maple countertops are as thick as I wanted and they were able to find some quality maple, even keeping some of the typography that was on the original wood.

Thanks to Adam for the photos (except for the one with Josie).

For more of a visual backstory of the process, check out the tumblr blog we set up to show the progress.
